Join us on Thursday April 3 as we head out of the MacPhee Centre and tour the Dalhousie University Art Gallery! Get ready to explore 3 different solo and group exhibitions and enjoy art works ranging from painted portraits and sculptures made from found objects and materials. Youth will meet at the MacPhee Centre for Creative Learning (50 Queen Street) at 12pm, and will be walking down to the Alderney Landing Ferry Terminal and taking the ferry over to Halifax. We will then take the bus to the Dalhousie University Campus (6101 University Avenue, Halifax NS). Bus tickets will be provided, but we ask youth with bus passes to please bring them along. We will be returning to the MacPhee Centre at 3:30pm.
The “Branching Out” program is designed to take young people on immersive trips to engage with and learn from Black and Indigenous communities around the HRM and across Nova Scotia. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with historical and traditional activities, and learn about the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of these communities. The program aims to foster understanding, respect, and appreciation for diversity, while empowering youth to become ambassadors of cultural awareness and social justice.
